The Islands
This is a place I kept hearing about so much that I had visit and see what it was all about. So I finally got to go to Cape Verde, and spent 2 weeks here and absolutely loved it!
Cape Verde is made up of 10 small islands, yes 10 !! I didn't realise this until I came here myself and many people don't. While I was here I had the privilege to visit the beautiful Boa Vista Island.
This is a place I would definitely visit again. I really didn't know what to expect but it is just a short 5 half hours/ 6hour max flight, and you feel like you are somewhere very Caribbean in style.
Boa Vista
Boa Vista is just off the coast of West Africa, and it’s known for its sand dunes and the moon-like volcanic landscapes of the Viana Desert. With white sandy beaches, include Tortuga and the sprawling Santa Monica. I stayed at the IBEROSTAR Club Boa Vista hotel, which is a 5-star resort on the sea front at Chaves beach. Chaves beach is a massive long stretch of beach that you can walk for miles on, it is right next to the beautiful sand dunes, which are a must go and see.
Things to do
While we were there, we went quad biking over the sand dunes. What an experience. This excursion took place morning or afternoon, and we did it in the morning, before it got too hot for us.
Quad Bikes
One day we spent the day out on the water, whale watching. The coastal waters are a route for migrating humpback whales, we spotted about three whales the day we were out at sea, just amazing.
